Jun Santos and Darna by BobbyRubio Jun Santos and Darna by BobbyRubio
This is Jun Santos and Darna having lunch together. Jun is crunching down on a lumpia while holding a paper plate full of Filipino food and Darna is having a Sago at Gulaman drink.

This drawing was drawn just for fun. Yay big Fork and Spoon!

Hope you guys like it.

Ah. That's very interesting. I always like learning about superheroes from other countries, and between this and Julio Valiente piece, your gallery has been very educational.

Great stuff! Looks like Jun is trying to brush up on his Tagalog with Darna. Makes me wanna head downtown to get some Filipino feed and a gulaman drink. Never really had the big wooden spoon and fork thing around the household grwoing up, but been to plenty of house parties and fiestas that had them: California, Guam, Virginia, Nevada, and of course, P.I. too.

I grew up with the big spoon and fork set in the kitchen - it's not a common thing in the us but big among Pacific Islanders for sure. Makes me homesick haha!

The big fork and spoon is essential to the kitchen! I have no idea on how that started...

Something tells me it's one of those handed down traditions (meaning someone wanted to get rid of them, pawned them off on a cousin, and it hasn't stopped since)

'Bottomless' as in they refill it for free, not that it has no bottom. LOL. I was confused at first too until I realized it meant they would just keep giving it to you so long as you paid the first time. :'D
